I purchased this lens for my Canon XSi and I am extremely satisfied. The build quality is pretty decent and optically much better than Sigma. I have owned this lens for just over 3 months. It’s really my first “true” wide angle lens for my DSLR and I couldn’t be happier. There is definitely distortion, if the subjects up close, it really does distort but by saying that, sometimes I don’t mind it at all. It gives some weird effect to the photos especially taking animals and some weird stuff. Other thing too, the vignetting. It’s really noticeable at wide open at 10mm but you can always correct that very easy which isn’t a big deal for me.

The picture quality is excellent for an extreme zoom, focusing is really fast and lens alone is compact size and very lightweight. I shoot hand held most of the time and still images are very sharp, how much more when you mount your tripod to your camera. Although I miss IS, but USM makes focusing fast and quiet. Great for landscaping photography especially with those panoramic photos. If you have a good flash in indoor low-light photography, you can capture very sharp and perfect images.

Although a little pricey this lens has exceeded my expectations. Bottom line, this lens takes an amazing photos and anyone who has Xsi should think about purchasing one.  It’s worth every penny.

Here’s a few unedited examples of images using EF-S 10-22mm lens. [All shots were hand held.]
